TEFL Training

Teaching Teachers TEFL provides Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) Training. We have three courses to choose from. The first is a 3 week intensive 100-hour TEFL certification, which is suitable for anyone of any age who has at a minimum graduated high school, and does not require you to be a native English speaker. The second course is a Special Outreach Project that includes the 3 week intensive 100-hour TEFL certification but is offered conjunction with a guaranteed 4 month English teaching contract following completion of the course. The requirements for this include a bachelor degree, criminal clearance certificate, and you must be a native English speaker. The third course is a 3 day, 20 hours total, TEFL certificate for experienced teachers of more than 2 years.

The course covers all topics that are standard to an international-level TEFL qualification, and include the following:

Live On-Site Teaching Experience

During the course you will visit local schools, colleges, and/or English language centres. You will have 3 hours of actual classroom experience and present lessons to real students, receiving feedback from the course trainers.This first hand experience will prepare you for the reality of the TEFL classroom. It will also equip you with the tools and techniques needed to become a versatile TEFL practitioner and deal with a range of teaching situations when teaching English to foreign students.

The course offers a unique 'Thai flavour', such that you will learn the best approach to each aspect of being a teacher in the Thailand educational setting, including:

Assessment & Grading

The theoretical components of the TEFL course will be continually assessed. You will be set tasks through out your course which are submitted for assessments by your tutors.  These tasks will be graded and returned with comments and guidance for your development.

Cost

Tuition fee: 28,000 THB ($800 USD) for the 3 Week Intensive 100-hour TEFL certification.

Materials: There will be a minimal cost for course materials.

Please not that costs such as accommodation, food, and transport are the responsibility of the applicant. Support for finding accomodation and using transportation is provided.

The Application Process

1. Please fill out the online application form, making sure to select the "3 Week Intensive 100-Hour TEFL Certificate" when asked.
2. You will be contacted again via email if you application has been successful and you are offered a place in the course
3. A non-refundable deposit of $300 USD is required to confirm your place in the course.
4. The remaining $500 USD must be paid (i.e. the course must be paid for in full) before the course start date.

Terms & Conditions and other Important Information

If for any reason you wish to subsequently cancel your place on the course after your fees have been paid, Teaching Teachers TEFL Thailand Centre cannot provide any refund except for exceptional circumstances. The payment is non-refundable. The reason for this is that the staffing for the course and accommodation have fixed costs which have to be paid for in advance and based on a specific number of course members in the group. The TEFL centre cannot guarantee to replace course members who subsequently drop out.

Fees can be paid online using your credit card through our secured server. Please email the consultants at teachingthailand@gmail.com if you opt to pay other than this facility. International banking is available. Bank to Bank transfer is also available.

The TEFL certificate course is not graded and the certificate will usually be available on the last day of the project period.

The course fee does not include air-fare.

All course trainees are liable to the disciplinary regulations of the center and subsequent school placement. The director's decision is final and dismissal from the course is not a ground for claiming a refund.

Special Outreach Project

Introduction

The Special Outreach Project offers a 100-hour TEFL Certification as well as a guaranteed position with our associated premier placement company Mediakids Academy who recruit foreign teachers to teach in Thai schools. The placement in the Thai schools will be a four-month contract and you will receive a monthly salary. The Special Outreach Project will appeal to the adventurous and enduring person who would like to experience a new culture and earn a salary while immersed in the opportunity of a life time. No matter what you are doing at present- come and join us and help make a difference in the lives of the children of Thailand.

Project Outline

The project begins with the 3-week Intensive 100-Hour TEFL Certificate in beautiful sea-side Hua Hin. Shortly after completion of the course, you will visit Bangkok for 4 days of orientation and training with Mediakids Academy, the recruitment company that will place you in a Thai government school for a 4-month (renewable) English teaching contract.

A Typical timeline for this is 3-weeks for the TEFL course, the 4-day training in the week following the TEFL course, and commencement of the 4 month teaching contract 1-2 weeks after this.

There are two intakes in each year, matching the two school semesters in Thailand. The dates for 2010 are:

Company Orientation & Training

Mediakids Academy, one of Thailand's premier foreign English teacher placement companies, will provide you with free hotel accommodation during 4 days of orientation & training to prepare you for working for Mediakids and your chosen school.

Four Month (One School Semester) English Teaching Contract in a Thai Government School

After completing our 100-hour TEFL Outreach course, you will receive a four-month renewable teaching contract. You will receive a monthly salary of 32,000-35,000 baht (~$1,000 US dollars). Please keep in mind that although this amount may be low when compared to Western standards, Thai teachers only earn approximately 8,000 Baht/month. The cost of living in Thailand is very low, therefore, 32,000 Baht/month will allow you to lead a very nice lifestyle.

Four Month (One School Semester) English Teaching Contract in a Thai Government School

As you can imagine, there are costs associated with setting up your new life and home in Thailand. Some of these will be paid for by Mediakids, many of them will be in the least subsidized by Mediakids, and many costs that you need to pay can be taken from your first month's salary rather than require you to pay up front. Mediakids will notify you of all applicable costs, who they are paid by, and how they are paid

Any participant who withdraws from the Special Outreach Project during the 4-month teaching placement will have their TEFL certificate witheld.

Any participant who withdraws from the Special Outreach Project just after the completion of the TEFL training will have to pay for the remaining balance for the TEFL certificate course fee amounting to 300 USD for him to take the TEFL certificate with him/her.

Participants during the 4 months teaching assignment who dishonor the understanding will have to pay a fine of 500 USD and will also not be eligible for the TEFL Certification.

The TEFL certificate course is not graded and the certificate will usually be available on the last day of the project period.
